After the release of their breathtaking debut EP, Canvas of Silence, Bangalore’s Rainburn are bringing out new music along with their first ever music video.
The 4-piece act that left a mark in the world of progressive rock with their debut release have been busy writing music, and are set to introduce their efforts in laying down complex rhythms and rich structures with the release of their new single, Merchant of Dreams. Rainburn demonstrate story of the relationship between a musician, a seller of dreams, and the audience through their new single.
‘Merchant of Dreams’ is a song about the relationship between a musician and his audience. The musician is, in essence, a seller of dreams, whether they be purely entertainment-centric, where the person in the audience is looking for an escape from the excesses of his or her daily life, or something that provokes thought or inspires the listener to aspire for greatness. The song is part of a larger story, which is the concept of the full-length album that we’re currently writing and plan to release early next year.
The release of Merchant of Dreams, their first studio release since Canvas Of Silence, will come along with the band’s first music video. The music video comes in collaboration with Amit N, who shot and edited the video, sketch artists and public figures.
For the music video, we extended the idea of the song to include all kinds of public figures, who are also sellers of dreams, desires, inspiration. We had a sketch artist come in and do some really great work and also different shots of the band playing to blend in with the content of a particular sketch.
After releasing the live video of their live single, Elusive Light, the band consisting of Vats Iyengar, Ravi Nair, Paraj Kumar Singh and Praveen Kumar will take center stage at Bangalore’s BlueFROG to premier their music video of Merchant of Dreams. Bangalore’s electro space-rock outfit, Signal W, who have taken the scene by storm, will step up in support of the progressive rock trailblazers at the music video launch gig on the 25th of May.
For the launch gig, we have an opening act Signal W, a really interesting band that we discovered at Unscene. Following their set will be the video screening… it’s like a movie premiere where you don’t get to see the video until later unless you’re there! After that will be a live Rainburn set. For the concert, everyone who buys a ticket online gets a free CD of our EP, ‘Canvas of Silence’ – this is the last batch of CDs that we have of the album and symbolically, it represents us moving ahead from the Canvas era and into a new era – the era of the full-length album that I referred to earlier. In addition, we have a lucky draw where five people win free ‘Merchant of Dreams’ T-shirts. This offer is again for online ticket buyers only.
