Budweiser, the brand which is known to be building the electronic music culture in India teamed up with Blaise Bellville’s BOILER ROOM to introduce the audience to yet another never seen before music experience. The beer giant with Boiler Room showcased an extraordinary line-up with some outstanding artists like British electronic artist Darren J. Cunningham a.k.a Actress who made his long-awaited India debut in Mumbai last week.
With over a million subscribers on YouTube, Boiler Room has orchestrated their online streaming services for over 5 years. This spectacular activity has led to a major revolution in the underground dance music scene internationally. Having grown from a house party on the internet back in 2010 to being a part of every DJ’s check-list, Boiler Room, with their idea of taking underground music to every corner of the globe, has definitely come a long way in the last 7 years.
In addition to the experimental electronica music producer and DJ, Actress, Budweiser’s x Boiler Room’s What’s Brewing Session in Mumbai on 1st December at antiSOCIAL was joined by India’s most respected independent producers, Sandunes, Multi-instrumentalist, Oceantied and ambient act and one half of down-tempo act Sulk Station, _RHL.
The gig was a strictly “by invite only” performance, music enthusiast had to register themselves on the Boiler Room website to get entry to the debut edition of Budweiser X Boiler Room What’s Brewing in Mumbai. With over thousands watching the online streaming of the gig, hundreds of attendees were present at antiSOCIAL to witness the phenomena of Budweiser x Boiler Room’s debut in India. Mumbai-based Deep/Future Garage producer Sandunes embarked the night with her live-electronica set. The first edition of Boiler Room Mumbai witnessed Sanaya Ardeshir bringing the night to life with her octopod and synthesizer creating the perfect tunes.
The cross-genre experimental live-electronica musician led the night into a mesmerizing musical journey before Bangalore-based multi-instrumentalist, Oceantied, took over the console and played his signature EP ‘Tribes’ and the finest hip-hop and Drum and Bass records.
Rahul Giri a.k.a _RHL took over the console with classics from Shoumik Biswas’s solo project, Disco Puppet and PCRC front-man Suryakant’s solo future ambient project Lifafa. From a slow ambient start to his set, _RHL had the crowd back on their feet in no time with an exceptional selection of hip-hop and grime tracks right from Kahn, Commandoand Gantz’s ‘So Familia’ to DJ Shadow’s collaboration with American Hip-Hop super group, Run The Jewels, ‘Nobody Speak’, and Alix Perez’s ‘U’.
The first edition of Budweiser x Boiler Room’s What’s Brewing Mumbai saw Actress, bring the night to the end with his experimental music and exception DJing skills with the vinyl records. Actress kept up the energy impounding with his niche yet complex experimental outsider house music and live scratching. His tunes created the “perfect Boiler Room vibes”.
While Actress brought his and Budweiser x Boiler Room What’s Brewing In… Mumbai debut to a prodigious end, we can’t wait for our next ground-breaking moments with Budweiser.
